
Mujer Segura program significantly reduced the rate HIV infection in prostitues.
An invention program lasts 30 minutes can signficantly reduce the rate of HIV and sexually transmitted diseases in sexual prostitues US-Mexico border. Moreover, the program has been successful with relatively low cost.
Dr. Thomas Patterson said “These are the key findings. This study that intervention programs with relatively low costs can significantly impact the rate of HIV and other diseases transmitted sexually in this high risk group”
Using a sophisticated system models, the researchers looked at how the reaction of a group of 1000 female sex workers in the United States-Mexico border with a behavier intervention program was formerly called the test or Health Mujer Segura Women Health. Mujer Segura using the technical nature push to encourage prosttitutes to use measures of safer sex.
The researchers found that among sex workers received only one intervention was only estimated to be 33 cases of HIV prevention and life expectancy incrased by 5.7 months of quality-adjustted life (QALE) compared with prostitutes was no intervention. With prostitutes annual intervention, there were 29 cases of HIV prevention and life expectancy has increased by 4.5 months QALE.
According to Patterson, should not be limited to programs such as Mujer Segura intervention in the United States-Mexico border. This mothod, if it is changed by culture, history and different geographical conditionas, it can be applied anywhere in the world.
