UNAIDS published new treatment regimen AIDS

Report on AIDS Qrganization of the United Nation (UNAIDS) on 13/7 published an HIV treatment regimen is straightforward, entitled “Method of treating 2.0” can significantly reduce mortality in people with AIDS as well as decrease the number of people infected with HIV.

2.0 treatments combined with measures to simplify the complex treatment and increase the number of people currently used drugs. This method requires drug prices are cheaper, simpler treatment regime and more efficient, reducing the burden on health system, and improve quality of life of people with HIV and their families.

According to UNAIDS, that only five of the 15 million people infected with HIV/AIDS have access to medicines, if the method of treatment with 2.0, the world will have about 10 million people with AIDS was saved in 2025. Number of new infections will reduce the one million if the water supply adequate antiretroviral treatment under the guidance of the World Health Orgnization.

To be effective, treatment should ensure 2.0 by 5 steps: Drug simple to use, less toxic, simple diagnostic tools, cheap and can be used at home, coupled with treatment of disease prevention; prices the drug reduced stigma improve awareness about the disease and strengthen community.

According to UNAIDS, at the end of 2008 the world has about 33.4 million people infected with HIV. Every year 2 million people die from AIDS, 2.7 million new infection, but only 40% knew their HIV infection.
