In a report presented at AIDS Conference in Vienna, Australia, a lubricating gel show promise in protecting women from HIV.
This gel phase drug tenoforvir, a drug to prevent HIV virus reproduces development. A second vaginal antimicrobial as such will be a successful tool in preventing AIDS.
The study lasted two named CAPRISA half years has monitored nearly 900. They are all Africa, often have sex and in age from 18-40. The results showed the drug reduced virus levels 50% after one year and 39% after 30 months. Women who regularly used drugs to reduce the risk level of 54%. Adesive lubricants are used 12 hours before and during sex. The study also showed that the risk of syphillis decreased 51%.
This is the first complete study of a drug-resistant HIV. Research method is to divide the subjects into two groups, one group od enofivir gel lubricant and a group is not protected (but do not know because the still get a drug to be used). Some say kind of research is not very humane.
